Margo Cook Discusses Modern Divorce at Florida Family Court Conference
Margo presented "Modern Divorce Requires a Team," highlighting the need for multidisciplinary support in divorce cases.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, Margo Cook (President, Wealth and Engagement Planning), presented “Modern Divorce Requires a Team” at the Family Court Professional Coalition (FCPC) Annual Conference in Sarasota, Florida. FCPC comprises legal and financial professionals, foundations, as well as state judges and magistrates.
Joined by co-presenter Kenneth M. Poole, Esq., a family law attorney with Syprett Meshad, Margo emphasized the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach in achieving optimal outcomes in divorce cases. Divorce impacts every aspect of a person’s life, including mental health, physical well-being, family dynamics, and financial stability. As a result, individuals facing divorce may need support beyond a family law attorney, with additional experts such as financial analysts, divorce coaches, mediators, and therapists, depending on the case’s complexity.
Margo highlighted several scenarios where a collaborative team can be particularly beneficial, including: (1) analyzing and addressing financially controlling behaviors by one spouse; (2) assisting when one or both spouses have limited financial understanding; (3) managing issues related to substance use disorder; (4) avoiding potential tax pitfalls; and (5) navigating complex assets.
“At Rothschild Capital Partners, we believe that having a dedicated team to support you through divorce is essential for a successful transition into your next chapter,” said Margo. “Without a team, you may miss critical advice on the complexities of assets and liabilities or overlook the impact of divorce on your mental health. Having gone through my own divorce, I’ve seen firsthand how vital a strong team can be in navigating a modern divorce.”
